To my fellow Educators

TEACHING can often feel like a thankless profession - from undervalued salaries to unacknowledged lesson planning requirements. As such, I've accepted the perspective that our role with students is to plant seeds (of information &/or skills) that we may never actually see in full bloom. But in every successful story there are unexpected turning points, as when a student actually documents their appreciation for the abundantly rewarding collaboration - called Learning.

An email from a graduating student (who returned to my Playwriting & Performance elective for three successive years), shared their appreciation for the confidence they'd gained to pursue an interest in cinema studies (ideally as an audio technician). They also provided episodic examples from past classes that had addressed a personal challenge with stuttering, which had inhibited previous endeavors. My genuine appreciation for this student's recollections, about lessons that have now become cornerstones of my curriculum, provided the best incentive a teacher can receive to remain fully committed to future class rosters.

Continued success and best wishes to my ensemble of fellow teachers, instructors, counselors, mentors, etc.

As a former acting instructor once impressed upon me..."successful people do the things that most people - don't!" (B. Price - The Rep, Inc.)
